Forsythia
On the Calendar
March

(Forsythia × intermedia)

*Also known as border forsythia and golden bells

Forsythia is a rambling shrub that can reach eight feet tall and ten feet wide. Long, arching branches are a hallmark of this plant. The yellow flowers grow in clusters making the branches look like golden sprays. When the flowers fade, oval-shaped leaves with serrated edges fill in the branches, creating a rounded thicket.

Forsythia flowers seem to burst onto the scene to remind us what this sabbat is about. Use the flowers in charms to increase fertility, or if already pregnant, place them on your altar as an offering and thanks. Put several cut branches in a vase of water and place it in your home where you need to activate and lift energy.

Forsythia is associated with the element air.
