Lawsuit Spread

On This Day

During the Supreme Court’s first term, it made no decisions. It didn’t even have a courtroom, using a committee room in the basement of the Capitol, where it remained until the Civil War.

The Supreme Court of the United States was created on this day in 1789 when the Judiciary Act was passed by Congress and signed by George Washington. This tribunal is made up of six justices, who serve on the court until their death or retirement.

Summation of Spread

The Justice card’s scales, also seen in the astrological sign of Libra, represent equality and fairness. The scales of justice were used in the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The deceased’s heart was placed onto the scale in a ritual called the negative confession. This Ma’at scale is perhaps the earliest reference to the scales of justice.

Hopefully you will never need to cast the cards of this spread. But should you find yourself entrenched in a lawsuit, these questions can help get a firm grasp upon the situation.

Cast Your Cards

Cast in the shape of a judge’s gavel:

1. Is there any way to avoid this lawsuit?

2. What is the nature of the case?

3. How can I establish a good working relationship with my attorney?

4. How do I keep my emotions in check?

5. What is in my favor?

6. What is not in my favor?

7. What helps me become victorious?

8. The ultimate outcome.
